# JuggleHire Installation Guide for cPanel Shared Hosting

> ****Important Note****: cPanel/shared hosting is not recommended for JuggleHire deployment. This approach may lead to performance issues, limited functionality, and difficult troubleshooting. For optimal performance and full feature support, we strongly recommend using a VPS or dedicated server with the cloud installation guide.

This guide walks you through installing JuggleHire on a cPanel shared hosting environment.

## Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure your hosting meets these requirements:

* PHP 8.2 or higher
* MySQL 5.7 or higher
* Node.js (for local asset compilation)
* npm (for local asset compilation)
* Composer (most shared hosts support this)
* Shell/SSH access (preferred but not always required)

## Step 1: Prepare Your Hosting Environment

### Check PHP Version

1. Log in to your cPanel account
2. Navigate to "PHP Version" or "MultiPHP Manager"
3. Ensure PHP 8.2 or higher is selected
4. Enable these PHP extensions:
5. * BCMath
   * Ctype
   * Fileinfo
   * JSON
   * Mbstring
   * OpenSSL
   * PDO
   * Tokenizer
   * XML
   * Zip
   * GD
   * Curl

### Create a Database

1. In cPanel, go to "MySQL Databases"
2. Create a new database (e.g.,`username\_jugglehire`)
3. Create a new database user with a strong password
4. Add the user to the database with "All Privileges"
5. Make note of the database name, username, and password

### Choose Installation Location

Decide where to install JuggleHire:

#### Option 1: Primary Domain (yourdomain.com)

* Files will go in the main`public\_html`directory
* Access via:[`https://yourdomain.com`](https://yourdomain.com)

#### Option 2: Subdomain (recommended, e.g., app.yourdomain.com)

1. In cPanel, go to "Subdomains"
2. Create a new subdomain (e.g., app.yourdomain.com)
3. Note the document root directory created for this subdomain

* Access via:[`https://app.yourdomain.com`](https://app.yourdomain.com)

## Step 2: Upload JuggleHire Files

### Using File Manager

1. Extract the JuggleHire zip file on your local computer
2. In cPanel, open "File Manager"
3. Navigate to the directory you chose in Step 1 (either`public\_html`for primary domain or the subdomain directory)
4. Upload all JuggleHire files

### Using FTP (Alternative)

1. Connect to your server using an FTP client (like FileZilla)
2. Upload all extracted JuggleHire files to the directory you chose in Step 1

## Step 3: Set Up Application

### Configure Environment File

1. Rename`.env.example`to`.env`
2. Edit the`.env`file with your database details:

   ```

### Using Terminal in cPanel

Most cPanel installations provide a Terminal feature that allows you to run SSH commands:

1. In cPanel, look for the "Terminal" application
2. Once opened, navigate to your website directory (where you uploaded the files):

   ```
   # For primary domaincd public_html# OR for subdomain (replace with your actual path)cd public_html/app
   ```
3. Run the following commands:

   ```
   # Install Composer dependenciescomposer install --no-dev --optimize-autoloader# Generate application keyphp artisan key:generate# Run migrationsphp artisan migrate:fresh --seed# Create storage linkphp artisan storage:link# Clear cachephp artisan optimize:clear
   ```

## Step 4: Build Frontend Assets

JuggleHire requires Node.js to compile frontend assets. Most cPanel hosting providers support Node.js through Terminal:

1. In cPanel, open the Terminal application
2. Check if Node.js is available:

   ```
   node -vnpm -v
   ```
3. If Node.js is available, build the assets:

   ```
   cd /path/to/your/jugglehirenpm installnpm run build
   ```
4. If Node.js is not available, contact your hosting provider to enable it

> ****Note****: Without properly built assets, the application's frontend will not display correctly

## Step 5: Directory Permissions

Set the correct permissions for security:

1. In cPanel File Manager, select these directories:
2. * `storage`
   * `bootstrap/cache`
3. Right-click and select "Change Permissions"
4. * Set permissions to 755 for directories
   * Set permissions to 644 for files
   * Enable "Recursive" to apply to all contents

## Step 8: Access Your Application

1. Admin login😀efault credentials:
2. * If using primary domain: Visit[`https://yourdomain.com/admin/login`](https://yourdomain.com/admin/login)
   * If using subdomain: Visit[`https://app.yourdomain.com/admin/login`](https://app.yourdomain.com/admin/login)
3. * Email:[admin@email.com](mailto:admin@email.com)
   * Password: password
4. ****Important****: Change the default admin password immediately after logging in!

## Step 6: Set Up Cron Jobs

JuggleHire requires a cron job for scheduled tasks:

1. In cPanel, go to "Cron Jobs"
2. Add a new cron job🙁Replace`/home/username/public\_html`with the actual path to your JuggleHire installation)
3. * Set the schedule to run every minute:`\* \* \* \* \*`
   * For primary domain:

     ```
     php /home/username/public_html/artisan schedule:run >> /dev/null 2>&1
     ```
   * For subdomain:

     ```
     php /home/username/public_html/app/artisan schedule:run >> /dev/null 2>&1
     ```

## Step 7: Configure Queue Worker (Advanced)

For optimal performance, configure a queue worker:

### If Your Host Supports Supervisor

If your hosting provider supports Supervisor (uncommon on shared hosting), set up a worker using their documentation.

### Using Cron Job Alternative

If Supervisor isn't available, use a cron job to restart the queue worker periodically:

1. In cPanel, go to "Cron Jobs"
2. Add a new cron job to run every 10 minutes:
3. * For primary domain:

     ```
     */10 * * * * php /home/username/public_html/artisan queue:work --stop-when-empty >> /dev/null 2>&1
     ```
   * For subdomain:

     ```
     */10 * * * * php /home/username/public_html/app/artisan queue:work --stop-when-empty >> /dev/null 2>&1
     ```

## Step 9: Access Your Application

1. Admin login: Visit[`https://yourdomain.com/admin/login`](https://yourdomain.com/admin/login)
2. * Default email:[admin@email.com](mailto:admin@email.com)
   * Default password: password
3. ****Important****: Change the default admin password immediately after logging in!

## Performance Optimization

For shared hosting environments:

1. Enable caching:

   ```
   CACHE_DRIVER=file
   ```
2. If Redis is not available, use file-based queue:

   ```
   QUEUE_CONNECTION=file
   ```
3. Consider enabling OPcache in PHP settings through cPanel

## Security Recommendations

1. Change the default admin credentials immediately
2. Enable HTTPS (most hosts offer free SSL certificates)
3. Set up regular database backups in cPanel
4. Disable directory browsing (usually in .htaccess)
5. Keep JuggleHire updated with the latest version
